Developing Conspiracy Theories

Is is me or have all the BBC News links to the Vogelenzangs wotsits all suddenly vanished overnight?

Yesterday I watched a four minute news item on TV and read the fact that the case was 'thrown out of court' and yet this morning is really is yesterday's news.

Would the 'news' have gone as quickly had the charges been upheld against the Vogelenzangs? Am I becoming paranoid and seeing a subversive campaign against Christians in the media? (surely not!). Am I often aware of misrepresentation on the radio regarding Christians and their views and attitudes (couldn't possibly be)?

Am I becoming paranoid or are 'they' really out to get us?

Vic, It seems more likely to be biogtry and perhaps professional embarrassment than conspiracy. The story line fit a meme the writers and editors expected to see: intolerance in devout Christians. So they never bothered to see if there was more to this story than the allegations by the Muslim woman. Then when the case was thrown out, not only did it run contrary to their preconception, it was quite a professional embarrassment as well (how could any professional journalist have written such unresearched bised drivel?) that the conclusion to the case was presented as briefly as possible.

The problem for me is that the integrity of the press (hard to use that word in association with them) is now such that they immediately replaced the story with something else (possibly the story of Islamic prison inmates to get extra support whilst in jail).

There are questions to be asked of the Chief Inspector who held a press conference about the seriousness of the charges and the awfulness of the defendant's acts and the DPP's staff and the fact that it went that far - but the press just, seeing no attitude-changing story) move on.

Thanks for the comment though - all grist to the mill,
